Australian Open Men's Final
Sunday 26th January meant three things in Melbourne this year - Australia Day, the men's final of the Australian Open and beautiful weather. Naturally we celebrated all three.
We started the day watching the Australia Day parade before heading to the park for a couple of beers, a delicious Taiwanese lunch and afternoon shots.
We then headed to the tennis. We only had ground passes so we couldn't actually get into centre court but we got free face paint!
I represented all our Swiss friends and supported the underdog, Stan Wawrinka
While the others all went for World Number 1, Rafa Nadal
We found a perfect little spot with great views of the big screen and used our free clappy fan things for a bit of shade while we waited for the match to begin.
As the first volley began we all cheered as loud as we could but the game soon became more tense with Rafa's injuries threatening to pull him out. We were enthralled.
But, as you all know, the hit of the open came from Wawrinka!
I went wild as the others wished they'd all backed him too. (Glory hunters).
What a day.
